She has spent more than 22 years working with students in a variety of special education capacities. Phyllis has a master degree as a reading specialist and taught English last summer for Teachers for Tomorrow in a school in Romania. She has focused her research, training, and work activities on three interrelated aspects of educating students with disabilities in their local schools: 1. Individual curriculum planning 2. Adapting curriculum and instruction and 3. Coordinating services in school and with outside organizations.
During her years of working in special education she has had students with two or more disablilites and has developed, adapted and implemented cirricula to meet their needs.
