Tom Haney
 

Tom Haney holds a Bachelor’s degree from Alvernia University and a Masters degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Criminal Justice Administration.  Since 1981 he has been a law enforcement officer for the Lower Salford Township Police Department .  For the past twenty years Tom has worked with the Souderton School District as a D.A.R.E. instructor and School Resource Officer.  He is a member of the Lower Salford Township Investigations Unit with his expertise in crimes committed by and against juveniles.  Tom is a Pennsylvania trainer in the D.A.R.E. program and a trainer for D.A.R.E. America.  He was one of ten D.A.R.E. trainers chosen from throughout the United States to assist in developing the National training curriculum for future D.A.R.E. Officers and assisted with writing curriculum for the new elementary school D.A.R.E. curriculum.  He has trained D.A.R.E. Officers throughout the World.

 

Tom has played in several rock bands throughout a fourteen year period.  He currently owns and operates his own disc jockey business, providing service to schools and private organizations for more than twenty years.  He has worked as a camp counselor and presenter at “Life Ride”, a leadership camp directed at inner city kids from the Chicago area.  The founder of “Life Ride” and nationally known motivational speaker, Eddie Slowikowski and Tom has presented together at youth leadership and adult conferences.  It has been known for Eddie to show up and present at several of Tom’s classes.

 

Tom’s love of music and his recognition of the power of this media to youth prompted him to speak nationally about the important connection.  Studying the positive and negative issues makes his audience educated on today’s youth music culture.  Music is a powerful tool to use in educating the youth.  He has presented his “Music Influence On Youth” program at National, State and Local Conferences.  Participants will leave this course with ideas to utilize this powerful media in their classroom.
